Compost In 1992 the State of Minnesota banned disposal of lawn clippings and leaves in landfills. This means that yard waste must be collected by a designated truck, which is routed seperately and disposes the waste at a composting facility. You are not allowed to put grass or leaves in with your household trash. Effective January 1, 2010 only certified compostable bags my be disposed of at composting sites.

Compost pickup for the 2010 season will begin the week of April 19th and ends the week of November 15th  COMPOST PICKUP REQUIREMENTS We offer curbside compost collection. Approved yard waste for curbside pickup includes: leaves, grass clippings and garden waste. There is a per-bag fee for compost pickup at the curb. Your compost must be placed in purchased paper bio-degradable bags. Effective January 1, 2010 Minnesota State law prohibits plastic bags from being disposed of in any yard waste compost facility. All lawn and leaf bags must be certified to be compostable. You can purchase them at your local Target, Home Depot, Menards, Fleet Farm, Sams Club and some grocery stores. We require that you call our office at least 1 day before your normal trash day by 3:00 p.m. for next day pickup so the compost truck can be scheduled to stop by your house.    SEASONAL WEEKLY COMPOST PROGRAM We offer an optional Yard Waste Collection Service for a fee per calendar year.  Your yard waste will be picked up on your regularly scheduled weekly garbage collection day. Included in the annual cost is the use of a 95 gallon yard waste container. You may also use your own container or compostable bags.
