Compost Services
Compost Pickup Requirements
Effective January 1, 2010 Minnesota State law prohibits plastic bags from being disposed of in any yard waste compost facility. All lawn and leaf bags must be certified to be compostable.
We offer curbside compost collection. Approved yard waste for curbside pickup includes: leaves, grass clippings and garden waste. There is a per-bag fee for compost pickup at the curb. Your compost must be placed in purchased paper bio-degradable bags.
The bio-degradable bags can be purchased at Target, Home Depot, Menards, Fleet Farm, Sams Club and many grocery stores.
We require that you call our office at least 1 day before your normal trash day by 9:00 a.m. for next day pickup so the compost truck can be scheduled to stop by your house.
At this time the following items are still picked up as a regular waste.
- Small amounts of garden waste
- Wreaths
- Shrub Clippings
- All tree branches or limbs need to be less than 4 feet in length and no more than 3″ in diameter, bundled with twine or string. There is an extra fee for this service.
Items considered to be yard waste.
- Grass Clippings
- Leaves
Seasonal weekly compost program.
We offer an optional Yard Waste Collection service for a fee, per calendar year. Your yard waste will be picked up on your regularly scheduled weekly garbage collection day. Included in the annual cost is the use of a 95 gallon yard waste container. You may also use your own container or paper bio-degradable bags.
