Curbside Compost Pickup and Yard Waste Collection

Tennis Sanitation offers convenient and eco-friendly compost pickup services for households across the East Metro. From food waste and organics collection to yard waste and seasonal cleanup, our curbside compost program helps reduce landfill waste and supports a cleaner, greener community.

Our 2025 compost season started the week of April 14th and will end the week of November 10th.

Compost Pickup Requirements

Effective January 1, 2010, Minnesota state law prohibits plastic bags from being accepted at yard waste composting facilities. All lawn and leaf bags must be certified compostable.

We offer curbside compost collection for approved yard waste, including leaves, grass clippings, and garden waste. There is a per-bag fee for compost pickup at the curb. All compost must be placed in purchased biodegradable paper bags.

Compostable bags are widely available at Target, Home Depot, Menards, Fleet Farm, Sam’s Club, and most grocery stores.

We require that you call our office at least 1 day before your normal trash day by 9:00 a.m. for next day pickup so the compost truck can be scheduled to stop by your house.

Not all materials qualify for curbside compost pickup. The following items are considered trash and will be collected through your regular garbage service:

  • Shrub clippings

If you are setting out tree debris, please note: tree branches or limbs must be under 4 feet in length and no more than 3 inches in diameter. They must be bundled with twine or string, and there is an additional fee for pickup. Unbundled or oversized branches will not be collected as part of our yard waste pickup service.
